Postpartum & Motherhood

The Postpartum season can be difficult, and for new moms, the sleep deprivation and recovery time can be surprising. Most women experience the "Baby Blues" at some point in pregnancy and these can last up to two weeks. Difficulty beyond these two weeks, can be a sign of a postpartum mood disorder such as depression or anxiety.

Postpartum Depression and Anxiety can often show up in similar ways as depression and anxiety outside of the postpartum period. It can also be more unique and look like things such as; not sleeping when baby sleeps, excessive worry about baby, intrusive thoughts and difficulty bonding to the baby.

Postpartum Mood Disorders can have a variety of symptoms, so if you think you may be struggling with one, the safest bet is to reach out and see if counseling would be a good option for you!

I also love working with moms in all seasons of motherhood. Raising tiny humans can be very difficult and learning to send them off on their own one day is a whole new challenge. I find that therapy can often help provide support to help manage the stress (day to day or big life events) as well as making sure you are taking care of yourself as well!

Over the years, I have found great joy in working with active duty military women as well as military spouses and helping guide them through the extra layers of stress related to this lifestyle.
